Private Lawn
Private Lawn is a different approach to lawn care. I don't sell treatments. I take responsibility for the lawn.
FALL 2026 · SOFT LAUNCH
30 LAWNS · 30 SPOTS REMAINING
Why only 30 lawns?
Private Lawn is a new way of doing lawn care, and I'm deliberately starting small. My first lawn-care company, Aerate Plus, grew to more than 2,000 customers. I'm proud of what we built, but I learned something along the way. As we grew, the business naturally became more focused on efficiently servicing a large number of lawns. The problem is, that's not how I take care of my own lawn.I'm on my lawn almost every day. I see what's working, what isn't, where it's struggling and how it responds to what I've done. If it needs more seed, I seed it. If it needs another aeration, I aerate it again. If an area isn't responding the way I expected, I figure out why and change what I'm doing.I don't stop because I've completed the services on a list.Any lawn-care company can perform a service. What I'm offering is different. I'll treat your lawn the way I treat my own. I'll be on it regularly, I'll see how it's responding, and when something needs attention, I'll deal with it.That takes time.I know how much time because I know how much work it takes to keep my own lawn looking the way it does. That's why I'm starting with only 30.I need enough time to see each lawn regularly, learn how it's responding, and give it the attention it needs without the number of customers becoming more important than the result.
The goal is to make these 30 lawns look amazing.

My lawn. This is the standard I'm chasing with yours.
A Different Way to Take Care of Your Lawn
I don't sell lawn treatments. I rehabilitate lawns.
Traditional lawn care is generally built around a schedule. Your lawn gets a certain number of visits and a predetermined set of services throughout the season.Private Lawn works differently.I don't aerate, seed, fertilize or lime your lawn simply because it's time for that service. I do it because I'm seeing something in the lawn that tells me it needs it.If something starts to change, I see it. I figure out what's happening, and now I know what to do.I know because I'm on the lawn.I'm not showing up, completing a service and disappearing until the next scheduled visit. During rehabilitation, I'll be back at least every five days, watching how the lawn responds and deciding what it needs next.I want my finger on the pulse of your lawn the same way I have my finger on the pulse of my own.And I genuinely enjoy figuring this stuff out.Why one area is thriving and another isn't. What changed. What worked. What didn't. What the lawn is telling me and what I should do next.Over the years, lawn care became something I genuinely enjoy learning about. It became my passion. It doesn't have to become yours. That's part of what you're hiring me for. I'll pay attention, figure it out, and take care of the lawn so you don't have to.If it needs more seed, I'll seed it. If it needs another aeration, I'll aerate it. If something isn't responding the way I expected, I'll figure out why and change what I'm doing. You're not just hiring a lawn-care company to complete services on your lawn. You're getting a steward whose only focus is making sure your lawn becomes thick, healthy, and looks amazing. The services are simply the tools I use to get it there.
What happens this fall?
The goal of the fall program is to rehabilitate your lawn now so it has a head start next spring and summer. It starts with your lawn, not a package.I'll assess where your lawn is today and what I think it will take to start rehabilitating it. From there, I take responsibility for the fall work. That may include aeration, overseeding, fertilizing, lime, weed control or other work the lawn needs. But those aren't services I'm trying to sell you one at a time. They're tools I'll use when I believe they'll help. Then I keep coming back.I'll be on the lawn at least every five days during the active rehabilitation period, watching how it responds. If something needs more attention, it gets more attention. If something needs to be done again, I do it again. That includes the ordinary things that affect the result. I'll keep leaves off the lawn as they fall. If raking them disturbs seed that's germinating, I'll put more seed down.I'm not keeping track of how many times I've performed a service. I'm keeping track of what the lawn needs. There are no upsells because there is nothing else for me to sell you. My job is to do what I believe the lawn needs within the fall program.
And then winter comes.
The work doesn't end when the growing season does.I'll continue checking your lawn through the winter. I want to see how it responds to the fall rehabilitation, what held, what didn't, and what winter itself teaches me about the lawn.By the time spring arrives, I won't be guessing what your lawn needs. I'll have been watching it.I'll use everything I've learned through the fall and winter to build a plan for your lawn for spring. That spring plan is included in what you've already paid for.
What happens in spring?
When spring arrives, I'll show you what I've learned about your lawn and what I think it needs next. Then the choice is yours. You can take the plan and do the work yourself. You can have someone else do it. Or, if you want me to continue taking responsibility for the lawn — and I have room to take it on — you can hire Private Lawn for the spring.I'm not asking you to commit to spring before I've earned the opportunity to continue. My job this fall is to show you what this approach can do.
Why a soft launch?
Private Lawn is new. I'm not pretending otherwise. The idea behind it comes from years of experience in lawn care and from things I learned building Aerate Plus. But this particular way of doing it is new.Rather than build an entire company around assumptions, I'm starting with 30 lawns and building from what I learn in the field.I'll learn how much attention these lawns really need. What works. What doesn't. What homeowners value. What I can realistically take responsibility for without compromising the result. Some parts of Private Lawn will change because of what I learn. The principle behind it won't: the lawn gets what I believe it needs. And this website will evolve right along with the business.
What happens when the 30 are gone?
Once the 30 fall lawns are spoken for, the fall intake closes. The limit isn't there to create artificial scarcity. It's there because I only have so much time, and Private Lawn only works if I have enough of that time to give each lawn the attention I'm promising. My fall clients will have the first opportunity to continue with Private Lawn in the spring. Until I know how many want to continue — and until I've learned how many lawns I can properly give this level of attention to — I won't know how much room I'll have for new lawns. That's why spring will be application only.If you'd like your lawn considered for spring, leave your information and I'll contact you once I know what space is available. If I have room and I think Private Lawn is a good fit for your lawn, we'll talk.
Your Lawn Steward
Weston McDonald
I've worked in the lawn-care industry for more than fifteen years. My first lawn-care company, Aerate Plus, grew to more than 2,000 customers.I know the traditional lawn-care model because I operated it successfully. That business model depends on volume. We had to complete the scheduled work properly and move on to the next property. But there simply wasn't enough time built into the model to give every customer's lawn the attention I naturally gave my own.The service didn't suffer. The lawn as a whole did. That experience stayed with me.What was missing wasn't another service. It was someone who remained attentive to the lawn as a whole and took responsibility for the result. That's what I'm trying to do differently with Private Lawn.I didn't create Private Lawn because I didn't understand traditional lawn care.I created it because I understood it well enough that I couldn't ignore what the customer really wanted: a thick, healthy lawn. The services are simply the tools I use to get there.
Show me your lawn
If I knocked on your door or left you a card, it's because I saw your lawn and thought Private Lawn could make a real difference. If what you've read here makes sense to you, let's continue the conversation.I'll walk the lawn with you, show you what I see, explain what I think it needs, and answer any questions you have. Then, if you want me to take responsibility for rehabilitating your lawn, I'd love to make yours one of my thirty.
